On the south side of Austin, in the backyard of a small house, exists a dreamy landscape known as The Cathedral of Junk. It’s the brainchild of Vince Hannemann, begun back in 1988 and consisting of over 60 tons of junk. Thousands of discarded remnants of global mass production are intricately strewn together to construct a towering structure that has become intertwined with lush vegetation over the years. We think it’s a magnificent display of creativity, as is the music from Portland band, Radiation City. Watch this GoPro-produced video to see them perform two songs live at The Cathedral of Junk.
