Today, we live in fear because there are several acts of terror occurring in and outside of the United States. We fear terrorists, drug smugglers, immigrants, and drug smuggling terrorists who also happen to be immigrants. They bring in weapons, drugs, and airborne diseases with the intention to wipe out the United States of America. The current President of The United States, Donald Trump, brilliantly proposed the solution to keep everything out of our borders with one simple concept; to build a border wall separating the United States from Mexico. However, the issue is this: Trump has proposed the wall to only separate us from Mexico which covers roughly 1900 miles. There are 2100 more miles of terror surrounding the United States that is free to be invaded by the Canadians. Having done the math, that is less than 50% of the international border secure from our worst nightmares. We did not even get to the subject of the horror from the depths- the terror lurking within our oceans. The research is clear, we’re not safe unless we propose a more provocative solution that will keep everyone within the United States safe.
The solution is obvious; we will need to construct a 4000-mile border wall that wraps around the entire United States. In order to prevent anyone from entering the States by travelling underground or underwater, the concrete wall must be 100-foot-thick and 2000 feet below the ocean. Most scuba gear and submarine vehicles cannot venture for a long period of time below 1500 feet; (we have provided an extra 500 feet in depth for good measure). Now that our ocean is secure, what about our skies? After the wall is complete, many believe that immigrants will migrate into the country from the air. We will see increased attempts to enter the country through the skies. The problem is this: How will the wall prevent immigrants from entering the country through our skies? According to the Jorge Ramos, an anchor for Univision TV, he claims that “[The Wall] is a completely absurd idea. Why would you want to build a 1,900-mile wall between Mexico and the United States if almost 40 percent of all immigrants come by plane and they overstay their visas?” (2015, September). The answer is clear: we must weaponize the wall. Yes, you heard me right; we must integrate cannons, lasers, and defensive systems into the wall to prevent attacks from the land, sea, and especially the air. As an Architecture student, I have decided to contribute by designing defensive weapons (shown below) to ensure our safety from terrorist-drug smuggling immigrants.
Many have asked if these ideas are enough to protect us from terror. To be sure that the right measures were taken into consideration, I have interviewed two experienced candidates ensuring that this new wall will be fool-proof; (they have insisted on sharing their experiences and advice). The Berlin Wall, a concrete structure constructed in the heart of Germany, was a border wall whose job was to prevent immigration from East Germany into West Berlin. The second candidate was the US/Mexico Border wall. It was tasked with preventing drugs, weapons, and immigrants from entering the United States. Before I provide you their feedback, I am to let you, the audience, know that the walls interviewed were aware and insisted that their feedback would be published in this article which advocates for the new border wall construction. The main questions asked were: (1) Why were you constructed? (2) What was your purpose back then and what is it today? and (3) Do you have any advice for the new border wall which will replace the current US/Mexico border wall?
The Berlin wall (image provided above) shared that (1) it was constructed to prevent communists from entering West Berlin to spread their propaganda and eventually plague Germany with crazy ideas. (2) Their purpose back then was to also segregate Germany based on territorial beliefs and biases towards communism and democracy. Today it has been destroyed by the people of Germany with hammers and chisels because they didn’t believe in an absurd and ineffective method of segregation. (3) Finally, the Berlin Wall’s advice to the Trump wall was to make sure it was thick enough for people not to hammer and chisel through it easily allowing them to immigrate into the country. The second and last wall interviewed was the current US/Mexico border wall. The border wall explained that (1) it was built to prevent drugs from being smuggled into the United States. However, it brought a diagram to the interview explaining it would eventually be drilled into- to create a tunnel system and explained that the same would happen to the new wall, regardless of its depth and thickness. At its best, the current wall is well over twenty feet thick and 50 feet below ground. The wall claimed that the images below imply that if someone were to own a power drill and some tools, the wall would easily be penetrated and free for people to cross through. The border wall then concluded the interview explaining that the first answer pretty much covers the remaining two answers.
In conclusion, we must not let what happened to the previous walls happen to the new wall. It’s important to understand that we as a united people must band together and protect the wall while it does the job of preventing Canadians, weapons, and guns from entering our great country. We must guard the border all day every day above and below ground. Therefore, I’m proposing to Trump the final measure we must take is to construct watch towers like the image above to ensure that effective human enforcement along with a weaponized wall will make the border wall much more secure. It is also notable that we hire Canadian and Mexican spies to infiltrate the terrorists and prevent them from entering the country illegally by promising them refuge within the United States.
