Sandra Bullock, playing mission specialist Ryan Stone in the film Gravity, locked in a disabled spacecraft that’s out of fuel and nearly out of oxygen, makes a desperate radio call for help. There’s static, then someone seems to respond–someone speaking a strange language, seemingly unaware of the desperate situation orbiting above the Earth.
In this brilliant short film, which is qualifying for the Academy Awards, Gravity co-author Jonás Cuarón writes and directs a parallel survival fable about what happened on the other end of the radio transmission. The Gravity short film is called Aningaaq.
