Wendy Rainey attended California State University at Long Beach, has studied creative writing with Gerald Locklin and Jack Grapes, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2012, and was the poetry editor for Cultural Weekly. She is working on a novel entitled Nancyland, from which this piece is excerpted.
