Wanda’s Woeing

(for Wanda Coleman)

Wanda
I hear a woman woeing
I hear you woeing woman
Wanda
I hear the women woeing
I hear you woeing woman

Opal Afro Dark Cacao skin
Evolving into intellectual Locks
Blak from the Blu
Poetry Conexxion in the Ascot Library Branch
Every Aristocrat got to have an Ascot

Chocolate cassette tape of radio words
Beautiful Tall thick verse walking wonderful for the worse
World thinking L.A. Woman ain’t got no Watts
No disrespect, Original Angeleno but our Angelou
She got twenty volumes in her stack
Where that link gone, your book is due…
Rejection from review

Check her out on the shelf
Learn herself, read her dewy decimals
Hear her scream out the decibels
Remember her application forms of tales

Wanda
I hear a woman woeing
I hear you woeing woman
Wanda
I hear the women woeing
I hear you woeing woman

They don’t know warmth of woman
They don’t know truth fruit from root
They don’t feel Renaissance woman
They bias to interracial love seeds of melody’s lute
Black woman married to White man Jew
Wicked Enchantment

Wanda
I hear a woman woeing
I hear you woeing woman
Wanda
I hear the women woeing
I hear you woeing woman
