Poetry.LA Interview: Wanda Coleman

In what we imagine is one of her last interviews, if not the last, the late, great Wanda Coleman sat down with professor and poet Mariano Zaro, a remarkable poet in his own right, to talk about her life and her work.
There are times we dismiss an artist like Wanda Coleman by saying she is a great LA Poet, when she obviously should be considered a Great Poet Anywhere. But in her case, she was and always will be a great LA Poet, someone who epitomizes the artistic possibilities of this city, someone who inspired multiple generations of poets.
As the year comes to an end, it feels as if she was one of our greatest losses. But she will always remain one of our greatest triumphs.
Please enjoy and savor this interview for Poetry.LA.
