Happy Birthday Week
Luis Buñuel Explains It All To You
This week the great Spanish director Luis Buñuel would have been 112 years old. His films were influential from the first (Un chien andalou) to the last (That Obscure Object of Desire), and never more haunting than the slow-motion dreams of Los Olvidados. Yet though he embraced surrealism, and his films often pry apart the seams of our normal world, he never left human emotions and relationships out of the frame; indeed his films tells us that relationships are all that matters.
Here he is, recalling his early collaboration with Salvador Dali.
