I hadn't heard of her passing. Thanks for letting me know. Will miss her sweet sounds and bare foot, whiskey swilling concert style. She was one cool cantante!

I too will miss her hugely comforting voice. Recently, at my dentist's office, I discovered that the hygienist was a native of Cabo Verde. Naturally, I mentioned Cesaria, my only real association to that island. She was delighted to find that I knew anything about her home and told me that her mother had been Cesaria's hair and and make-up person for years. I was surprised that she was surpised that I, a yanqui geezer, was a fan of Cabo Verdian music. But living in the Bay Area for over 30 years, I guess I assume too much about the rest of the USA.
